And just like that, Season 5 has come to an end and the people at Epic Games have launched Chapter 2 Season 6, aptly titled Primal. With the launch brings the Week 1 Epic Challenges. The challenges are still tiered and are each worth 24K xp. As you are exploring the new map and new features, one feature that you will surely come across is “crafting.” Crafting seems to be the theme of the Week 1 Challenge. Here they are.

- Find golden artifacts near The Spire (3)
The Spire is what’s left of the zero point. This quest requires you to find three (3) different Golden Artifacts. The artifacts are not really gold. Instead, they have the familiar blue humming look before you interact. The artifacts are positioned West, East and South in the Spire.
- Collect mechanical parts from vehicles, trailers, buses, or tractors (5)
This is a pretty cool challenge and introduces you to “crafting.” To collect mechanical parts, you just need to use your harvesting tool on a vehicle, trailer, bus or tractor. When you destroy the vehicle, trailer, bus, or tractor, you will see a mechanical part that you can use to “craft”. Tip: Be careful when you harvest from a parked vehicle because vehicles tend to explode. You’ve been warned!
- Craft mechanical weapons using mechanical parts and a makeshift weapon (3)
So, now we know that the mechanical parts that you get from vehicles, trailers, buses, or tractors can be “crafted” with mechanical weapons to make something new. You need four (4) mechanical parts to craft.
- Hunt Wildlife
Situated throughout the Fortnite map will be wildlife. Hunt your prey down to cloak meat and bones. We have found that at least two chickens seem to always load near Steel Farm. Enjoy!
- Craft Primal weapons using bones and makeshift weapons
These challenge is very similar to the Craft Mechanical weapons challenge. Except, you need to collect a primal weapon (i.e., bow and arrow, old school gun) and craft it with bones from wildlife. I think more chickens are in order :0
- Craft A Hunter’s Cloak
Remember those chickens you found at Steel Farm? Well, its time to make your first Hunter’s Clock. Collect 1 part meat and 2 parts bone to craft your very first Hunter’s Cloak!
- Talk to characters
Just like last season, simply go up to your favorite NPC and interact. Sometimes, the NPC will give you something useful (can you say mechanical parts or bone parts). Enjoy!
